ENHANCEMENT Ticket (pending)

Listing blog articles in the bakery

This only would apply if my ticket regarding an 'extended book' is accepted. The bakery has articles of practices and fixes, not just scripts, but not everyone writes execellent articles on the bakery (especially you guys). If you choose to create an organization structure similar to the book, I think it would be usefull to look for simple ways to mention off-site articles so that the bakery can be a nice consolidated collection (helps encourage and increases the value of moderation). Perhaps just a link and a summary at least, but since you guys aren't likely to link to every single post you make, a way to display the article automatically based on link alone.

I don't think this necessitates your suggested book categorization. I really like the idea of linking external content to items in the bakery. A "related links" side-block or something along those lines? (Approved by moderators to avoid spam/unrelated links) Along these lines, a lot of blog posts I read out there would be perfect articles - though it's kind of funny to think of duplicating content on the bakery. Perhaps not, though, since pulling the content into the bakery will allow for all the community features of the bakery. Considering how many bloggers have a feed of their blog -- perhaps it would be cool to, for a registered user, read from a feed, and allow the user to mark one of the items in their feed to be pulled into an article draft in the bakery. That make sense? So it's not just reading the feed and dumping everything into the bakery, but using it more as a convenient way for the bakery to reda their feed and offer a list of their external content, then if selected, pull a particular item and it's content into a draft.

I very much like the idea of being able to look at their site via a feed and choose which article they want to include. The problem with this feature is how much information can be 'scraped' from the blog based on the feed (or other solution) to be viable on the bakery vs just remote linking. I kinda like the idea of consolidation to this website rather than sending them off-site, especially with the local features in mind, but it may be a difficult task to come up with an ease of use solution.
